Mood Board #006 - Eileen
"i cry on my birthday; i cry on yours too." - lyndsay rusch
April is a big birthday month — my daughter’s 5th birthday (which just passed), my beloved Gramie’s (who is no longer with us) birthday, and my sister’s birthday all fall within weeks of each other — and we are very heavy on the Aries/Taurus passionate energy.
I love that my daughter’s birthday fell in the springtime, even though it actually snowed while I was at the hospital in labor with her. April itself feels like a big stretttttch — plants are reaching towards the sky from their unseen roots, people are popping out from their homes to spend more time outside and tend to things that have been neglected for months. It’s a warm-up lap before we reach the height of spring.
Leaning into this time of year, I’ve been into period dramas (The Leopard or Il Gattopardo) and cozy, springy animated movies lately (Kiki’s Delivery Service and The Secret World of Arriety) and they are absolute works of art.

Without further ado, for this month’s mood board, we have Eileen. She represents lingering memories of pastel Easter corsages, silk scarves, Lucky You perfume, painted nails, and sugar cookie frosting. Her touch is as soothing as the soft spring rain. She loves blue butterflies and coffee from the same white and blue mug, leaving a red lipstick smudge on the rim. She calls everyone “dolly” and has a chinoiserie vase of daffodils on the dining room table.
Cheers to the real Eileen, who I miss oh-so-much, and all my other April birthday babes! Thank you, again for being here.
